"Going to Daytona has always been very special to me," says Starr. "Whether I am going to watch or to compete, the second I go through the tunnel, I can feel the excitement. It is pretty much magical and this year is going to be doubly electrifying as it will mark my debut with a new truck and a new team."
Joining Red Horse Racing for the 2006 season, Starr will pilot the No. 11 Toyota Tundra. "I can't begin to tell you how excited I really am," says Starr with a big twinkle in his eye. I am more positive than ever and really feel like 2006 is going to be a stellar season."
In his fifth full year of NASCAR Craftsman Truck competition, Starr is very familiar with the famed Daytona International Speedway and has scored two top 10's previously. "I would like nothing better than to be able to claim the win at Daytona," says Starr. What a thrill that would be and what a way to start off the season. The first race of the year is always really exciting and it is the one and only time of the season when everyone is on equal footing. No one has any points so you aren't worried about trying to catch up. You can put all your energy into running up front. Daytona is one of the fastest tracks on the circuit and you need to be up on the wheel every second. You have to keep your foot all the way down and your eyes peeled on the competition. Our test was extremely positive and I am definitely pumped. In fact, I can wait for next week. I wish the race was right this minute."
Growing at a constant rate, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is one of the most competitive series in racing today. Providing fans with unparalleled racing action from start to finish, the competition is incredibly tough and there are a number of drivers capable of taking the Checkered Flag at each and every race.
Extremely talented behind the wheel, there is no doubt of Starr's capabilities. In his years of racing, he has proven just how good he is and this year, with the Red Horse Racing team and the Number 11 Toyota Tundra, he should have one of the best years ever.
"I am so pumped and I really have a good feeling about this season," concludes Starr. "Racing is definitely my passion and I don't just come to race, I come to win. I'm ready for the season to get underway. All that is missing is the Green Flag."
