Davids Co-Pilot! : Davids Co-Pilot!

11/14/2007 5:32 PM Alert

Mooresville, N.C. (November 14, 2007) - Red Horse Racing saw a lot of success in 2006, including one win, six top-five, 12 top-10 finishes, and a fourth place finish in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship Point Standings.  So it's no surprise that the team is anxious to duplicate those results.  In an effort to make that happen, Red Horse Racing announced today that veteran NASCAR driver David Starr would return to race the No. 11 Toyota Tundra for Red Horse Racing in 2008 and the sponsorship lineup would be unveiled at a later date.

"We are very excited to welcome David back to our team," said Team Owner and General Manager, Tom DeLoach.  "David is one of the top drivers in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and we are very thankful that he has agreed to be part of our program next year.  David has the talent, skills, and ability to be part of our effort to return our team to its winning ways and we are thrilled to welcome him back."

Starr last drove for the team in 2006, but when sponsorship was lacking at season's end, Starr was released from his contract.  He landed with another team and has been racing full-time in the Craftsman Truck Series, where he currently sits 12th in the Championship title chase after scoring three top-five and four top-10 finishes in 24 starts.

For 2008, Starr will reunite with veteran Crew Chief Jamie Jones who led Starr to a fourth place finish in the Championship Point Standings in 2006.
"I am really excited to return to Red Horse Racing next year," said Starr.  "This is a great opportunity for me to reunite with Jamie Jones and drive for one of the best manufacturers in the Series - Toyota.  I think we'll be able to start right where we left off by finishing strong and winning races."

Starr, a native of Houston, Texas, made his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut in 1998.  He has 189 starts, four wins, 37 top-five, and 75 top-10 finishes to his name.  In addition, Starr has accumulated five Bud Pole awards and has led a total of 404 laps.  Starr's best finish in the Point Standings came in 2006 when he posted that fourth place finish for Red Horse Racing.

Red Horse Racing has had a variety of drivers behind the wheel of its No. 1 RFMS/Red Horse Racing Toyota this year but has remained solidly in the top-10 in the 2007 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Owner Point Standings.  The team currently sits 8th in the standings, with four top-five and eight top-10 finishes to date.

Red Horse Racing's ownership consists of DeLoach, a former Mobil Corp. executive, and Jeff Hammond, a NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship Crew Chief who now serves as an analyst for FOX Sports.  Together the pair own and operate Red Horse Racing along with PIT Instruction and Training, LLC â?" the number one pit crew training center in the world.

CONGRATS to David and RHR !!

THAT'S WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!
Yes, we want Tom, Lisa, the crew and the folks at Maxforce to know how much we appreciated them and their efforts but it just did not work out. Thanks to Rick for bringing David on board. I am sorry to say he is now back in the same position as before. "Always chasing David".

Most excellent news. Now I'm looking forward to 2008.
I suspected something was up when after the last race Rick Crawford said about David's 2008 ride to the media; "It's his if he wants it..."

A tip of the hat to a real gentleman, Rick Crawford and all the special folks at Circle Bar... You all are a class act!
