Circle Bar finds Starr to pair with Crawford

Circle Bar Racing will become a two-truck team for 2007, with David Starr joining Rick Crawford as drivers of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team.

Sponsorship will come from the International Truck and Engine Corporation, whose Power Stroke Diesel brand will adorn Crawford's No. 14 Ford, while MaxxForce International Diesel will be on Starr's No. 10. Circle Bar Racing bought the number, and some equipment, from ppc Racing, which used the number last year with Terry Cook but is not running a truck this season.

Kevin "Cowboy" Starland continues as Crawford's crew chief, while three-time champion Dennis Connor will be crew chief for Starr.

Crawford finished ninth in the Craftsman Truck Series point standings in 2006, with one victory, five top-five and 13 top-10 finishes in 25 races. Starr, meanwhile, was fourth in points, with one win, six top-fives and 12 top-10s. Starr was replaced in the No. 11 Red Horse Racing Toyota after the season in favor of Aaron Fike and had been looking for a ride.

"A joint effort between Cowboy, our Circle Bar team and Dan Davis and his team at Ford Racing helped us make some 'Bold Moves' to get back into championship contention in 2006," Crawford said in a statement. "Teamwork was the ingredient that made us better, and it's also the element we are missing. By not having a teammate we were missing the advantages the multi truck teams have by sharing information. Having David Starr as your teammate and the crew chief is Dennis Conner is like picking a fantasy team."

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Steve and I talked to Lisa Karnes in Talladega when David was parked right next to Rick Crawford. She was a really sweet lady. She also lives in Texas, Steve and I was trying to remember where she said that she lived at. So, I am looking forward to seeing her again.

Yesterday around 5:30 I got a call at home. On the caller ID it said Circle Bar Racing and I missed the call. So I called back and got one of the crew guys which got me over to David. David is very happy and is elated to have Rick Crawford for a new team mate. I'm just about booked for Martinsville this year. Pop and I have circled that race for a year now. I realize this will not be his actual sponsor but I don't think anyone would have a problem seeing this picture of the 10 truck doing this!
